Sweet Bonanza Bonus Round: Free Spins, Multiplier Bombs and Bonus Buy

Almost all of Sweet Bonanza’s big wins happen in one place: the free spins round with rainbow multiplier bombs. This page explains how the bonus is triggered, how bombs really pay, what Ante Bet changes, and what Bonus Buy costs — with numbers you can check in the demo.

How free spins are triggered

You need 4 or more lollipop scatters anywhere on the grid in a single spin, including scatters that arrive during a tumble sequence. The scatters pay an instant prize — 3× the bet for 4, 5× for 5 and 100× for 6 — and award 10 free spins. Free spins are played at the stake that triggered them; you cannot change it during the round.

How often does that happen? Pragmatic Play does not publish a precise trigger rate for every configuration, and results vary enormously in short sessions. In demo testing it is common to wait well over a hundred spins between bonuses, and dry spells of several hundred spins are not unusual. Plan your budget around that reality.

Multiplier bombs: how they really work

During free spins, a special symbol can land: the rainbow multiplier bomb. Each bomb shows a value between 2× and 100×. Low values are much more common than high ones.

Bombs stay on the grid while the tumble sequence continues. When the sequence ends, the game does two things:

  1. It adds the values of all bombs on the screen.
  2. It multiplies the total win of that tumble sequence by that sum.

Example: a free spin produces three winning tumbles worth 2×, 1.5× and 0.5× the bet — 4× in total. Two bombs are on the grid, showing 10× and 25×. Their sum is 35×, so the sequence pays 4 × 35 = 140× the bet.

If the same spin had produced no win at all, those bombs would pay nothing. That is why many bonus rounds look spectacular — big bombs on screen — and still pay little.

Retriggers and the end of the round

Three or more scatters during free spins add 5 extra spins. This can happen more than once. The round ends when the spins run out or when the total win reaches the cap of 21,100× the bet. At the cap, the game pays the maximum immediately and closes the feature.

Ante Bet: double chance, higher cost

Ante Bet is a toggle beside the spin controls. When it is on:

  • each spin costs 25% more (a C$1 stake becomes 1.25 times that);
  • the chance of triggering free spins is roughly doubled;
  • Buy Free Spins is disabled.

Ante Bet does not make wins bigger, and it does not change the long-term RTP in a way that helps you. It changes the rhythm: you pay more per spin to see the bonus more often. It suits players who find the long wait for free spins frustrating, as long as their budget accounts for the higher cost per spin.

Buy Free Spins: what 100× really means

Where it is offered, the Buy Free Spins button starts the bonus immediately for 100× your current bet. At a stake of C$1, one purchase costs 100 times that amount. The round then plays exactly like a triggered one.

The appeal is obvious: no waiting. The risk is less obvious. Many bought rounds return less than their price, and a few rare rounds return much more. Over many purchases the average return is close to the game’s RTP, which means the average loss per purchase is still a few percent of a large amount. With a limited budget, two or three disappointing purchases can end a session in minutes.

Bonus Buy is not available in every country. Regulators in the UK and Germany do not allow it, and some casinos disable it voluntarily.

A realistic picture of bonus wins

Players often share videos of huge Sweet Bonanza wins. They are real, but they are the visible tip of millions of rounds. A typical bonus round pays a modest multiple of the stake; big multipliers need to land together with good wins in the same sequence, and that combination is rare. Treat any single bonus as a lottery ticket inside the game, not as a goal you can plan for.

Try it in the demo first

The best way to understand bombs is to watch them. Play the free demo, trigger or buy a few bonus rounds with play money, and note how often big bombs coincide with real wins. Then read our strategy guide for the budget side of the game.

Frequently asked questions

How many free spins do you get in Sweet Bonanza?

10 free spins for 4 or more scatters, plus 5 more each time 3 or more scatters land during the feature.

What is the highest multiplier bomb?

100× in the original Sweet Bonanza. Sweet Bonanza 1000 raises the maximum bomb to 1,000×.

Do multiplier bombs add or multiply each other?

They are added together first, and the sum then multiplies the win of the tumble sequence.

Is Ante Bet worth it?

It doubles the chance of the bonus for 25% more per spin. It does not improve the long-term return, so it is a matter of play style and budget.

How much does Bonus Buy cost?

100× the current bet, where the feature is available. It is not offered in the UK or Germany.
